Operative - Temporary traffic Management - Newtown St Boswells - SBO09946

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Temporary Traffic Management Operative to join our Roads team based at Newtown St Boswells. This role plays a vital part in supporting roads and Sbc contracts services across the Scottish Borders and beyond, ensuring protection for the public, colleagues and contractors during road works and maintenance activities.

As a Temporary Traffic Management Operative, you will support the safe delivery of roads and infrastructure works by setting up, maintaining and removing traffic management systems in accordance with industry codes of practice and legislation. You will work as part of a team, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions, ensuring that all traffic management measures are implemented safely and effectively.

• Setting up, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management, including signs, temporary traffic signals, cones, barriers and road closures
• Assisting with traffic control operations, including stop/go and convoy systems where required
• Undertaking site safety checks to ensure traffic management layouts remain compliant and effective
• Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety legislation, risk assessments and method statements
• Assisting with winter maintenance and emergency response activities when required

• A dependable and hardworking individual with a strong commitment to safety
• Experience in traffic management or highways work is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided
• A positive and flexible attitude with the ability to work as part of a team
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Flexibility to support emergency and out-of-hours work, including winter maintenance where required

• A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
• Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ 1, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards) or obtained within reasonable timescales
• A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
