Role Purpose: We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking leader to drive the modernisation and delivery of Bereavement Services for the Council. This role will lead strategic planning, digital transformation, operational excellence, and long-term cemetery infrastructure development. You will oversee statutory compliance, health and safety, service performance, financial planning, and workforce development, ensuring high quality, compassionate services for our communities. The postholder will build strong partnerships with stakeholders, lead memorial and headstone safety programmes, and ensure business continuity. As a visible and collaborative leader, you will champion continuous improvement, equality, and customer-focused service delivery across all areas of Bereavement Services.

Essential:

  • Relevant Business management or other related degree
  • Professional qualification in Bereavement Services or Cemeteries Management
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as ICCM (or working towards within first 12 months, to be agreed)
