Role Purpose
Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic civil engineer to act as an Assistant Engineer within its Road Structures team. The successful applicant will assist the appropriate Team Leader in managing the Council’s infrastructure assets, primarily bridges, culverts and roadside walls.
Qualification Requirements
Educated to HND or HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering (or relevant discipline) or present evidence of comparable experience and training. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate relevant experience of civil engineering design and construction and have a good knowledge and understanding of engineering principles. They will also have:
- The ability to assist in managing the Council’s statutory responsibilities in relation to its road structure assets.
- The ability to assist in scheme identification, design and option appraisal of infrastructure assets in line with developed forward programmes.
- The ability to assist in the preparation, procurement, delivery and supervision of revenue and capital maintenance works.
- Good knowledge of current CDM and other Health and Safety Regulations.
- Ability to manage conflicting demands, meet deadlines and work as part of a team.
- A full current driving licence.
Essential
Educated to HND or HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering (or relevant discipline) or present evidence of comparable experience and training. A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
