Role Purpose
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent (17.5 hours per week) Assistant Building Standards Surveyor in the Building Standards section for an enthusiastic person to assist the Council’s delivery of its statutory Building Standards functions, including the inspection of approved works following the grant of a Building Warrant and assessment of construction work against Building Regulations and dealing with dangerous buildings.
You should hold an HNC/HND or equivalent in building and be capable of working with minimum supervision. However, applications will be welcomed from those with evidence of comparable experience/training in a relevant field. This post would be particularly suitable for candidates with experience in the construction industry.
The position is based at headquarters in Newtown St. Boswells, covering a defined geographical area, and may involve inspections elsewhere within the Scottish Borders. A driving licence and regular access to a vehicle will therefore be essential.
