Job Purpose

As the Head Janitor, you will maintain school cleanliness and safety, including portering and minor repairs. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring building and ground security. Your role is crucial in maintaining a positive environment for staff and students.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and ensuring the safety of all areas of the school.
  • Acting as a key holder for the buildings and attending emergency call outs as required.
  • Assisting with student supervision at morning interval and lunchtime, and influencing positive student behaviour.
  • Assisting in the preparation of and staffing school activities and evening lets.
  • Working alongside your team with supervisory responsibility.
  • Working with your team with budgetary responsibility.

Requirements

  • Have general education.
  • Have experience working with various groups, including individuals in their early stages of development and the public.
  • Have previous janitorial/caretaker experience including head or sole janitor experience.
  • Have experience of supervising staff.
  • Be committed to maintaining and improving standards and becoming involved in the life of the school.
  • Have good practical and organisational skills and be able to work on own initiative.
  • Have good IT, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be willing to work outside normal hours.
