THIS IS AN ENTRY LEVEL POSITION INTENDED FOR A RECENT SCHOOL OR COLLEGE LEAVER LOOKING TO START IN THE WORLD OF WORK.
Have you recently left school? Are you interested in starting a career in Administration? Do you want to earn money while you learn on the job and work towards a Level 6 Business and Administration SVQ? A friendly and progressive GP Practice with a reputation for excellent person-centred care and innovated working are delighted to be expanding their administration team and require a Receptionist/Administration Apprentice to work on a rotational full time basis (early, middle and late shifts, exact times will vary due to contracted hours) but these will be between the hours of 7.30am-6pm Monday to Friday. They are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, forward thinking, highly motivated, that will fit well into their team and will work hard to provide an excellent person-centred care administrative service to their patients and GPs.
This is a well-established and respected Medical Practice, consisting of approximately 8,000 patients within easy commute from the centre of Edinburgh and surrounding areas with good road and rail links providing easy access to the Practice and its many local amenities.
This is an exciting, varied and fast paced role with tasks including reception and telephone cover, prescription administration, patient record summarising, audio typing, document workflow management, dealing with medical reports etc.
Responsibilities Include
- Processing requests for appointments and prescription requests
- Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Effectively signposting patients to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Administration of patient records
- Inputting data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Managing all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carrying out system searches as requested
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitoring and maintaining the reception area and notice boards
- Supporting all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
- Monitoring of stationery supplies
- Contribute ideas and suggestions to the smooth running of the reception and administrative functions
- Along with the duties in your role, you will undertake a Level 6 SVQ in Business and Administration and will be supported throughout.
- National 5 qualifications- particularly in English, Mathematics and Business and Administration- desirable but not essential
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Packages
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are important
- Previous customer service experience is desirable
- Enthusiasm and a \’can do\’ attitude is key- you should be willing to learn and work hard
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Time management is key- you will be part of a busy GP Practice team and will have to manage your time between your duties and your SVQ work
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information
