Job Overview

Job purpose

We are a long established family run business and are looking to add a new modern apprentice to our small friendly team. If you are reliable, conscientious and a motivated team player then you will be ideal for our busy workshop. We are known locally for our reliable and trustworthy service and you will need to be able to show a high level of professionalism and customer service. Having good communication skills are essential as you will have direct contact with our customers serving fuel and other forecourt services such as checking tyre pressures, oil levels etc. Our loyal customers bring us a wide variety of cars and light vehicles, old and new, diesel, petrol and electric. No two days are the same. The Modern Apprenticeship Programme allows apprentices to work full time and earn while they learn putting theory into practice within an automotive training environment.

You will be based within the garage workshop and will be involved in learning all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance over your 3 years apprenticeship and will study one day a week at Dundee and Angus College. Work on site will be dependent on the stage you are at with your college year however over the 3 years these will include vehicle servicing, MOT preparation, removal, replacement and overhaul of major components, changing tyres and electrical fault diagnostics.

We will regularly assess and review your progress and will undertake this in the workplace ourselves and also with a dedicated mentor from Dundee and Angus College. This is with the aim of ensuring you have the required skills to successfully complete your apprenticeship. You will train through Dundee and Angus College to SCQF Level 7 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Qualification required You must have or expect to gain National 4 or above in English, Maths, and either a Science or Technical Subject. Ideally you will have completed Motor Vehicle Engineering Level 1 What personal qualities are required? We are looking for candidates who want to kickstart their career in the automotive industry and who are keen to learn. You must be dedicated and have a proactive approach to your work and learning. Time management and punctuality must be to a high standard. A willingness to work in a practical environment using your own initiative. A full UK Driving license preferred but not essential.
