Job Overview

This post is based in Glasgow G13. Multiple vacancies available in Private Nurseries across Glasgow.

This opportunity is funded by Skills Development Scotland through the Modern Apprenticeship Scheme. No academic entry requirements are required – every applicant is assessed at the interview stage.

What You’ll Gain

Hours & Pay

  • Full‑time: 35–40 hours per week (Monday–Friday in nursery, or varied hours in Out of School Care settings).
  • Rate of Pay: ÂŁ7.55 per hour (National Minimum Wage for Modern Apprentices).

As a Modern Apprentice, You Will

  • Work towards a SCQF Level 7 qualification in partnership with Carousel Training Centre and your Employer.
  • Attend monthly training classes and receive regular support from an Assessor.
  • Gain the SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People).
  • Build the skills and knowledge to become a qualified Early Years Practitioner in just 12–15 months.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the staff team to create a safe, positive environment for children.
  • Be a valued member of a team.
  • Support staff in delivering fun, active, and educational activities.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with children from babies to pre‑school age.
  • Learn how children develop through creative play and activities.
  • Support with personal care tasks (toileting, dressing, feeding).
  • Engage with parents/carers to support each child’s learning journey.
  • Help with nursery routines, including snack preparation and cleaning equipment.
  • Follow nursery safeguarding procedures to ensure all children are safe and secure.

What We’re Looking For

  • Enthusiastic and confident individuals who want to work in a Nursery or Out of School Care setting.
  • Good communication skills and a genuine desire to support the development of young children.
  • The ability to engage and interact enthusiastically with children.

No previous experience is required – just passion, commitment, and a willingness to learn.
