Job purpose
Are you interested in the opportunity to work at the heart of the Scottish public service, making a difference every day to hundreds of thousands of public sector workers and pensioners across the country?
The Scottish Public Pension Agency (SPPA) is an Agency of the Scottish Government. Our principal role is to administer the pensions for employees in the National Health Service, Teachers,’ Police and Fire-fighters’ pension schemes in Scotland. The Agency administers these public service pension schemes on behalf of Scottish Ministers with an annual pension spend to over 200,000 pensioners of more than £2.5 billion.
There is a SPPA Modern Apprenticeship opportunity available, in each of the following teams:
SPPA Finance team supports the payment of pensions for public service workers through reconciliation of contributions data and record management.
SPPA Governance team manages the Agency’s corporate governance arrangements which includes the delivery of Agency boards and supporting the Chief Executive business function.
Throughout the first 12 months the successful candidate will be expected to gain a relevant Business Administration SVQ qualification. Support will be provided by an internal assessor who will work with you on a monthly basis, and time will be made available for you to work on your qualification.

Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on.
Experience
A working knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Office suite (or similar).

How to apply
Apply online, providing a CV and Supporting Statement (of no more than 750 words) which provides evidence of how you meet the skills, experience and behaviours listed in the Success Profile above.
Stage one (application sift): Candidates will have their applications assessed against all success profile criteria listed above unless there is a large number of applications, in which case, the following process will apply:
An initial sift will be conducted using the CV and supporting statement on the Communicating and Influencing behaviour as listed above. Candidates who pass the initial sift will have their applications fully assessed against the rest of the Behaviours and one Experience criterion.
Stage two (interview and job simulation): If successful at application sift, you will be invited to an assessment and interview where we will test all criteria listed in the Success Profile above.
Interview and assessment are expected to take place in person on site at SPPA, 7 Tweedside Park, Tweedbank, Galashiels, TD1 3TE.
Assessments are scheduled for w/c 15th September or w/c 22nd September however this may be subject to change.
