Overview
Body Repair Apprentice role at Scottish Apprenticeships. Job purpose: Remit is recruiting on behalf of Pro Automotive, offering an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in starting a career and gaining a recognised qualification in the automotive industry. The Apprenticeship Programme offers the chance to work full-time while earning and learning at the same time, allowing you to put theory into practice within an automotive industry environment. Typically, you will attend college for the first three years, with the final year spent primarily in the workshop. Working alongside your mentor, you will receive full hands-on training. As a Vehicle Accident Repair Technician, you will repair and replace damaged panels using gas, electric, and plastic welding techniques. You will also gain experience using specialist body jigs and tools, equipping you with the skills needed for a career in vehicle repair.
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of vehicle body structure and materials (metal, plastic, composites)
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively (e.g., hammers, grinders, sanders)
- Understanding of welding and metal fabrication basics
- Familiarity with paint preparation and application processes
- Basic skills in measuring and assessing damage
- Ability to disassemble and reassemble vehicle parts
- National levels: 4 or above in English and Maths
- It is preferred if you have a Craft Subject and physics/science; these are advantageous but not mandatory
- A desire to work in the Automotive Industry
- Hobbies involving tools and motor trade-related activities are a plus
You will be working towards the SVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship.
