b Overview /b p In this 24-month development programme, you will retrain to become a Power System Engineer, starting with a 10-week specialist training and then three placement rotations across planning and operational teams. You will work on power system studies, simulation workflows, and network performance assessments to support low-carbon generation integration in the north of Scotland. The role combines hands-on technical training with real‑world engineering recommendations within SSEN Transmission. This is an opportunity to shape the grid for a cleaner, reliable energy future while working with cross‑functional teams. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li flexible first options /li li salary circa 46,000 + bonus /li li private healthcare discounts /li li gym membership discounts /li li online GP /li li 24/7 counselling service,Cycle to Work scheme,maternity and adoption pay, paternity leave /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Carry out system studies and technical assessments for the Transmission network /li li Assess network performance and options to maintain or enhance capability /li li Support System Performance, System Engineering Investment teams and Transmission Control Centre with engineering recommendations /li li Conduct simulations and studies (power flow, fault level, voltage/thermal, transient stability, harmonic/power quality) for licence and Grid Code compliance /li li Ensure accurate modelling of the SSEN Transmission system and data for detailed steady state and dynamic analysis /li li Develop skills to prioritise technical problems and design/development portfolios /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li MEng in Engineering (or equivalent) /li li Strong mathematical and analytical skills /li li Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks /li li Enthusiasm for team integration and developing into a Power System Engineer /li li Excellent communication, time-management and organisational skills /li li Basic understanding of power system fundamentals and network analysis /li li Previous graduate programme or professional experience (desirable) /li /ul ul li communication /li li time-management /li li organisational skills /li li PowerFactory /li li PSCAD /li li power system studies /li /ul
