Overview
In this role, you will act as a commercial advisor within SSE’s IT Procurement & Commercial team, shaping value from key technology and telecom partnerships. You will collaborate with IT leaders to align supplier activities with policy and strategy, ensuring high performance, cost efficiency, and risk-resilient services. You’ll influence decisions, drive continuous improvement, and support critical programmes and projects. This is a hands-on role at the heart of a dynamic technology environment with a clear focus on strategic partnerships and governance.

Responsibilities
- Build and manage strategic supplier relationships and act as a trusted advisor to IT leaders
- Lead contract and supplier governance activities with oversight and alignment to policies and objectives
- Drive supplier performance, monitor KPIs and commercial outcomes to improve value and efficiency
- Provide commercial and contractual expertise across IT programmes and projects, supporting decision-making and changes
- Identify, assess and mitigate supplier risks to ensure resilience of critical services and partnerships
Key requirements
- Proven experience managing strategic IT and Telecommunications suppliers with strong commercial outcomes
- Strong contract management expertise including negotiation, interpretation and management of complex agreements
- Knowledge of IT services, telecommunications, ERP systems, and large-scale technology programmes
- Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical and risk management capabilities using data to drive value and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of UK Utilities Contract Regulations and a professional contract management qualification would be advantageous
