Overview
As a Trainee Control Engineer in Portsmouth, you help support the 24/7 operation of the electricity distribution network to keep power safe and reliable. You join the Control Team to analyse the network, identify interventions, and assist with urgent resolutions across voltage ranges. You’ll uphold SSEN safety rules and contribute to a positive safety culture while ensuring safe release of equipment and accurate outage reporting. This role offers hands-on development in a critical, mission-driven part of SSE’s energy transition.

Responsibilities
- Analyse the network to identify intervention needs and support resolutions across voltage ranges
- Adhere to SSEN rules and procedures to maintain safety culture and suggest improvements
- Ensure safe release of apparatus and equipment from service per safety rules and procedures
- Communicate with internal and external staff to support safe distribution network operation
- Maintain accurate reporting of all interruptions to regulatory requirements
