Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in our Perth office.

Salary: 59,800 - 89,800 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join SSE Thermal, playing a critical role in enabling the delivery of our strategic objectives. As Risk Manager, you will act as a key strategic advisor to the Thermal Executive Committee, leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of SSE Thermal's Enterprise Risk Management framework. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals across the business, you'll support informed decision-making by identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, cyber and reputational risks.

The role works closely with business leaders and stakeholders to promote a strong risk culture, ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen organisational resilience, and deliver industry-leading risk and assurance services across SSE Thermal.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include:

  • Be responsible for the Enterprise Risk Management framework within SSE Thermal, ensuring risk activities are directed to areas of highest risk and outputs generate value for the business.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to Executives and Leadership on Enterprise Risk Management, emerging risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Thermal and Group functions to integrate risk frameworks, share intelligence and maximise value from risk & assurance activities.
  • Collaborate and influence across a multi-disciplinary, high performing teams, maintaining a culture of inclusivity, empowerment and continuous improvement.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Extensive experience in a risk and/or assurance background, preferably within the Energy sector.
  • The ability to quickly and effectively build strong relationships with stakeholders up to Executive level, confidently leading and influencing discussions on complex risk matters.
  • A strong commercial mindset, with the capability to navigate complex business challenges and deliver pragmatic, value-adding solutions.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the wholesale energy market, including the regulatory and legal landscape.
  • A collaborative approach, with proven experience bringing teams and stakeholders together across a matrix environment to drive successful delivery.
