The role:
Join SSE's Record to Report (R2R) Centre of Excellence as an R2R Finance Analyst and become part of a collaborative team that plays a vital role in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information across the Group. Working across areas such as General Ledger, Revenue, Projects and Fixed Assets, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of finance activities while developing your accounting knowledge and experience. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving, continuous improvement and working in a supportive environment where safety, wellbeing, integrity and high standards are at the heart of everything we do.
You will:
- Support month-end, half-year and year-end reporting activities, helping to deliver accurate financial information in line with Group reporting deadlines.
- Prepare journals, reconciliations and reporting outputs, investigating variances and supporting the review of key financial movements.
- Support the execution of financial controls, maintaining robust documentation, audit trails and supporting evidence.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify, raise and resolve discrepancies, process exceptions and reporting issues in a timely manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to standardise processes, enhance efficiency and strengthen controls across the R2R function.
You have:
- Experience within finance, or relevant further education, alongside a genuine interest in developing your accounting knowledge and career.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies, identify issues and escalate matters clearly where appropriate.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with curiosity and enthusiasm for finding better ways of working and supporting positive change.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed timescales.
