As part of SSEN Transmission's ambitious Pathway to 2030 programme, we are seeking a Project Director to lead the delivery of the Orkney Link project - Orkney - SSEN Transmission. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the successful development and delivery of a nationally significant HVDC infrastructure project, overseeing activities through the development, execution and delivery phases while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and project performance.
You will:
- Put safety at the heart of everything you do, ensuring all work is delivered in line with the SSE Safety Licence and our commitment that "if it's not safe, we don't do it."
- Oversee the delivery of a complex, high-value (multi-billion) HVDC transmission project, ensuring successful outcomes across safety, quality, schedule and budget.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, helping to align priorities and support successful project delivery and wider business objectives.
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team, creating an environment where people can perform at their best and contribute to successful project outcomes.
- Encourage and support continuous improvement across project delivery activities, helping to identify opportunities that enhance performance and deliver long-term benefits across the wider organisation.
You have:
- Strong commercial awareness, alongside significant experience of managing high-value projects or programmes and a sound understanding of major project delivery and financial planning.
- Experience leading, supporting and developing large multidisciplinary teams within complex project environments.
- A track record of delivering successful outcomes within challenging timescales and complex infrastructure programmes.
- The ability to focus on key priorities, make informed decisions and balance strategic thinking with project delivery requirements.
- Experience managing multiple priorities, assessing risks and supporting effective resolution of project challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, together with a strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
