Overview
In this role you will ensure reliable condition monitoring data informs the health of SSE’s electricity network assets. You will translate engineering needs into data structures and visuals, integrating monitoring equipment with AVEVA PI and other data systems. You’ll validate signals, support design, testing and handover, and drive reusable data requirements and guidance to improve monitoring reliability. Based in Scotland with 50% office time in Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness, this is a hands-on role shaping how monitoring informs asset decisions.

Responsibilities
- Define engineering and data requirements for integrating monitoring equipment with AVEVA PI and other systems
- Work with PI tags, Asset Framework and PI Vision to structure data and build routine displays and calculations
- Validate monitoring data, investigate missing or mis-signed signals, and coordinate resolution
- Support project design, testing, commissioning and handover with proper documentation
- Improve reliability and consistency of condition monitoring by recovering incomplete integrations and creating reusable templates and guidance
Key requirements
- Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience in electrical/electronic/instrumentation/control/communications/mechanical engineering
- Experience integrating industrial monitoring equipment with operational-data or historian systems
- Practical experience with AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) or equivalent industrial data historian, including tags, time-series data validation
- Experience investigating missing, unreliable, incorrectly scaled or mapped signals
- Practical and collaborative approach translating engineering needs into clear technical requirements and working across technical teams
