Overview
As Senior Civil Engineer, you act as Technical Authority for Bridges, Buildings and Onshore Wind Turbine Foundations within SSE Renewables. You will provide technical leadership across critical assets and influence projects from early development through decommissioning. The role supports a growing international renewable portfolio across the UK, Ireland and Europe, balancing safety, compliance and long-term asset performance. You will shape how civil infrastructure is managed and developed, collaborating across cross-functional teams to deliver clean, affordable electricity.

Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver an annual programme of inspections, monitoring and asset assurance for bridges, buildings and onshore wind foundations
- Provide technical leadership on asset integrity issues and develop mitigations and required engineering work
- Manage external engineering consultants and contractors to ensure high-quality outputs
- Review, challenge and optimise engineering solutions, balancing safety, cost, risk and long-term performance
- Support development, procurement, construction and operations with technical due diligence, supplier evaluation, and value engineering
Key requirements
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE
- Significant experience managing civil assets or delivering large-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge in design, assessment and management of bridges, buildings and wind turbine foundations
- Experience reviewing engineering studies, reports, drawings and calculations with understanding of standards and permitting
- Willingness to travel regularly to project and operational sites
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management and commercial awareness skills
