The role:
As Lead FP&A, Supply, you'll partner with teams across SSE Airtricity and SSE Business Energy to deliver the insights that shape strategy, drive performance and support sustainable growth. Leading a team of three FP&A professionals, you'll combine commercial acumen with exceptional technical and analytical capability to transform complex financial, operational and market data into actionable business insights. A strong financial modeller, you'll lead the development of dynamic, scalable forecasting, planning and scenario models, leveraging advanced Excel, Power BI and analytical tools to support strategic decision-making and enhance business performance.
Working closely with Supply leadership, Finance Business Partners and Financial Control teams, you'll help build a trusted, insight-led FP&A function. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, challenges conventional thinking and continually pushes for deeper insights that drive better decisions. You'll champion continuous improvement, introduce new ideas and technologies, and play a key role in strengthening Finance's ability to influence strategy through high-quality analysis, modelling and decision support.
You will:
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of three FP&A professionals, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture that delivers meaningful insight and supports business success.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting across SSE Airtricity and SSE Business Energy, helping to shape strategy, drive performance and support sustainable growth.
- Develop and continuously enhance robust financial models, forecasting tools and scenario analysis, leveraging advanced Excel, Power BI and analytical techniques to provide clear, data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Partner with senior leaders to deliver high-quality financial insight, constructive challenge and forward-looking analysis, ensuring key risks, opportunities and market drivers are reflected in business decision-making.
- Continually identify opportunities to unlock deeper insights from data, improving understanding of customer, commercial, operational and regulatory performance drivers.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement, introducing new ideas, tools and approaches that enhance planning, reporting and decision-support capabilities while helping shape a more efficient, scalable and insight-led FP&A function.
You have:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience in FP&A, commercial finance or performance management.
- Strong track record of leading budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes within a complex, fast-paced organisation.
- Demonstrable experience leading and motivating teams through periods of change, bringing people together around a common vision, building engagement and delivering results through collaboration and shared accountability.
- Skilled at turning financial, commercial and operational data into clear insights, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations.
- Advanced analytical and financial modelling capabilities, with experience assessing scenarios, risks, opportunities and key business drivers.
- Confident collaborator with the ability to influence and build trusted relationships across Finance and the wider business.
- Experience driving continuous improvement, balancing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes to challenging deadlines.
