Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations – Perth Salary: Salary: 64,085 - 76,581 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableThe role We have an exciting opportunity for Control Support - Emergency Preparedness Engineer to join SSEN Transmission’s Control Centre in Perth.As part of the Operational Resilience team, you’ll support real-time control, outage planning and system readiness, while helping shape operational strategy and technical standards for future network projects and connections. You’ll develop processes and strategies that strengthen regulatory and statutory compliance, operational performance and emergency preparedness, working closely with internal and external stakeholders.You will Act as expert support for our control teams, from operational planning to commissioning to real time operation. This will include long term and operational resilience planning. Provide expert input and manage key operational emergency planning and preparedness and network performance documentation. Ensure Network Control compliance with Operational Safety Rule, Grid Code, System Operator – Transmission Owner code, and OFGEM requirements. Produce operational guidance notes, processes and procedures for the control room to ensure the correct and continued operation of the network during critical and emergency scenarios. Lead representation at internal and external working groups and take part in discussions with industry partners including OFGEM, NESO, TO & DNO. You have Degree level qualification with preference in electrical engineering, although qualifications to HNC level (minimum) with the relevant industry experience will be considered. A deep knowledge and understanding of electrical power systems and/or emergency planning and the related operation and design standards and practices Excellent knowledge of the electricity industry, including interfaces with the regulator, the Electricity System Operator, other Transmission Owners and Distribution Network Operators Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured reports and procedures. Use your knowledge and communication skills to engage with senior engineers and other industry stakeholders such as NESO, as well as providing technical advice to senior management. Ability to analyse and advise others on emergency planning, business continuity, incident management etc. within a real time control environment.
