Overview
As Platform Engineer - OT Security, you will help secure, operate and continuously improve IT and Operational Technology platforms across SSE Thermal’s generation, storage and network operations. You’ll work across OT, cyber security, cloud and hybrid infrastructure to ensure resilient, reliable services. You will enhance security operations, automate processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new capabilities and lifecycle management. This role offers a meaningful chance to contribute to critical energy infrastructure while advancing security and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain and continuously improve IT and OT platforms to keep services secure, resilient and available
- Administer and support hybrid on-premises and cloud infrastructure (virtualisation, identity, networking, platform services)
- Support security operations activities (vulnerability remediation, access controls, monitoring, platform hardening, service assurance)
- Develop automation and scripting to boost reliability, efficiency and user experience
- Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and projects to deliver new capabilities and manage lifecycle of services
Key requirements
- Experience with enterprise infrastructure, platform services or hybrid environments (server, virtualisation, cloud, network)
- Strong troubleshooting skills with Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, Hyper-V, Azure, storage and networking/firewall tech
- Experience with secure and resilient services (vulnerability management, backup/recovery, privileged access management, security monitoring or endpoint security)
- Scripting/DevOps tooling experience (PowerShell, Bash, Azure DevOps) to improve operations
- Good communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
- Interest or experience in OT, cyber security, industrial control systems, Linux (RHEL), NIS regulations and critical infrastructure (advantageous)
