In this role, you will lead the Skye Reinforcement project team to deliver a major transmission substation, supporting Scotland’s clean energy transition. You will work with multiple external contractors to meet programme, budget, and quality targets, applying safety and governance frameworks. The position sits within SSE’s Large Capital Projects ecosystem, emphasizing safe, collaborative delivery and stakeholder alignment. A long-term pipeline of work offers ongoing impact beyond 2030 in the north of Scotland.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the SSE project team and coordinate with external contractors to foster a high-performing, collaborative environment
  • Manage the Skye Reinforcement Project delivery to meet programme, cost, and quality requirements
  • Uphold Safety Management Systems and SSE LCP governance processes across the project
  • Champion SSE safety culture and inclusive, collaborative working practices
  • Ensure alignment with the SHE Transmission RIIO-T2 Business Plan and maintain strong stakeholder relationships

Key requirements

  • Strong background in engineering, construction or major infrastructure delivery with experience leading complex projects and teams
  • Experience delivering civils, large-scale earthworks, or transmission overhead lines and substations
  • Solid understanding of safety, CDM regulations, and track record delivering major projects
  • Experience with project reporting and NEC3 contracts administration
  • Knowledge of developing and managing integrated project programmes and governance systems
  • Experience with tendering and managing multi-disciplinary suppliers
  • Ability to forecast, monitor and control project costs
  • Proven stakeholder management across large, complex infrastructure projects
