Overview
In this role you will support SSE’s Procurement & Commercial Team within the Transmission Development Directorate to manage and optimize procurement and commercial activities for onshore capital projects. You’ll develop procurement strategies, negotiate main contracts, and ensure governance is followed across development and delivery. The position emphasizes stakeholder engagement, cost forecasting, and robust commercial management to enable large-scale energy infrastructure progress. You will work within a collaborative, performance-driven environment focused on delivering the energy transition at scale.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project procurement strategies for main package contracts
- Manage the procurement process from invitation to tender to contract award
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing for main packages
- Ensure compliance with Utilities Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2016 and Procurement Act 2023
- Provide commercial management throughout development and delivery phases
- Support cost estimating, cost reporting, and forecast management
- Prepare governance papers and deputise for senior team members
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to influence and resolve disputes
- Monitor change management procedures and expenditure across projects
Key requirements
- Experience in a similar role with development and delivery of high-value capital projects
- Offshore (Marine/Subsea) project experience beneficial but not essential
- Competence with NEC, FIDIC or LOGIC contracts
- Strong cost management skills: reporting, forecasting, accruals, supplier payments
- Knowledge of procurement policies and statutory provisions
- Market intelligence/market engagement and benchmarking experience
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or relevant Business field
- Ability to develop and implement procurement strategies and governance papers
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
