Overview

As Project Director for Orkney Link, you will steer a nationally significant HVDC infrastructure programme from development through delivery.

You will drive safety, quality, schedule and budget performance while shaping the project with senior stakeholders and a multidisciplinary team.

This role places you at the heart of SSE’s Pathway to 2030, delivering critical electricity infrastructure for the energy transition.

You will influence strategic decisions, foster continuous improvement, and ensure safe, reliable outcomes for communities and the business.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of the Orkney Link HVDC project, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and budget targets
  • Lead safety culture and ensure work adheres to SSE Safety Licence
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and create an environment for high performance
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across project delivery
  • Balance strategic priorities with practical project delivery requirements
  • Manage risks and resolve challenges throughout the project lifecycle
  • Key requirements
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing high-value projects or programmes
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams in complex environments
  • Track record of delivering outcomes within challenging timescales on infrastructure programmes
  • Ability to prioritise, make informed decisions and balance strategic thinking with delivery
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and risk, with effective resolution of issues
