Overview
As Marine Safety Advisor at SSEN Transmission, you will provide expert marine safety guidance to project and marine teams, helping to deliver offshore works safely within the Safety Management System. You will influence contractors, support vessel mobilisation, and contribute to continuous safety improvements. The role sits in the Safety, Health and Wellbeing team and offers hands-on support across offshore construction activity. This is a visible, impactful position shaping marine safety across major offshore projects.

Responsibilities
- Provide practical marine safety advice to project and marine teams to implement the Safety Management System
- Engage with contract partners to monitor safety performance and ensure compliance on offshore works
- Develop and review SSEN Transmission and partner documentation for safe vessel mobilisation and offshore operations
- Participate in risk reviews (HAZIDs, HIRAs) to mitigate marine risks
- Support audits, inspections and investigations; ensure findings are recorded and closed out appropriately
- Travel to ports, vessels, project sites and offshore worksites as needed and maintain hands-on safety support
Key requirements
- Experience in offshore construction or marine operations with knowledge of safety requirements and risks (cable installation, diving, trenching)
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence safety decisions across project and contractor teams
- NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) with knowledge of qualitative/quantitative risk assessment in offshore environments
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- BOSIET (or equivalent) and offshore medical certificate would be advantageous
