Overview
As Lead Solutions Architect (Data), you guide the Data domain architecture for SSE's Transmission Business Unit, aligning data platforms and governance with business goals. You will shape roadmaps, patterns, and blueprints, ensuring governance and standards are met across projects and BAU. You lead data platforms strategies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive data-driven decisions for a safe, resilient electricity network. This role combines technical leadership with enterprise guidance to enable scalable data solutions.

Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end data domain architecture across data lifecycle
- Develop domain roadmaps, solution models, and blueprints aligned to business needs
- Lead data platforms and technology decisions; act as SME for data tools
- Ensure architecture compliance with governance, IT principles, and standards
- Provide technical leadership to BAU and project teams; influence decisions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into compliant, cost-effective designs
- Assure project delivery remains aligned to agreed architectures
Key requirements
- 5+ years IT domain solutions architecture experience in asset-intensive industries (ideally energy/power)
- Ability to interpret long-term business strategy and apply to architecture
- Experience with EA guardrails, technical standards, and solution design documents in the Data domain
- Practical experience with agile development (DevOps, Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and cost estimation of architectures
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science (or related field) and related experience
