Overview
In this role you will lead HVDC P&C engineering across a multi-project offshore portfolio, shaping standards and solutions to meet regulatory and safety requirements. You will guide a team, resolve complex design issues, and drive consistency and delivery across major offshore transmission projects. You will work with internal teams, supply chains, and industry partners to advance HVDC technology and strengthen SSEN Transmission’s offshore delivery program. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence how we progress toward Net Zero and energy security.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for HVDC P&C engineering initiatives, ensuring compliance with business, regulatory, and safety requirements
- Drive proactive resolution of technical issues across the programme with collaborative problem-solving
- Guide and nurture a team of specialist engineers, promoting inclusive culture and career growth
- Promote health, safety, and environmental excellence, ensuring CDM, ESQCR, and SSEN standards compliance
- Drive innovation through continuous improvement and engagement with industry forums to shape best practice
- Engage with technology providers to understand new solutions and feed into technology strategies for future projects
Key requirements
- Proven track record delivering HVDC P&C engineering design outcomes in projects or operations
- Strong initiative and collaborative decision-making to solve complex problems
- Deep technical knowledge of HVDC P&C engineering, relevant legislation (CDM & ESQCR) and standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management to build trust and simplify ideas
- Engineering degree with Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) preferred
