Overview

In this role you will support SSEN Transmission’s Offshore HVDC projects within the Pathway to 2030 programme, helping deliver major HVDC infrastructure that underpins the UK’s low‑carbon energy transition. You’ll work with a diverse team of technical specialists, managing design assurance, governance and commissioning activities. You will engage with technical authorities and stakeholders to ensure safe, compliant project delivery. This is a hands-on role at scale, with a clear impact on national energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design assurance activities and support project governance and stage-gate documentation
  • Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and auxiliaries for compliance with tech and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with technical authorities and engineering specialists to facilitate review and approval of engineering deliverables
  • Attend factory acceptance testing (FAT) and support commissioning activities to verify equipment performance
  • Promote a positive safety culture and manage engineering, quality and project risks throughout the lifecycle

Key requirements

  • Degree, HND or equivalent in engineering (ideally electrical or mechanical)
  • Experience in project engineering, ideally in HVDC, power transmission, energy infrastructure or similar complex environments
  • Knowledge of electrical plant, substations, HVDC systems or related technologies
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills with decision-making capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multidisciplinary teams
