Overview
In this role you will lead SSE Transmission's Onshore Development and Delivery procurement and commercial activities, partnering with the business to define and execute procurement strategies across a portfolio of projects. You will guide and inspire the Procurement and Commercial Team, ensuring delivery, governance, and regulatory compliance. You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Insurance, Regulation and project teams to drive value and efficient contracting. This is a mission-driven role at scale, contributing to SSE's energy transition and project delivery ambitions.

Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the Procurement and Commercial Team across the project portfolio
- Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders (Transmission, Procurement Operations, Finance, Legal, Insurance, Project Services, Regulation)
- Improve procedures, standards, and policies while ensuring regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver procurement, contracting and supply chain solutions
- Shape and execute procurement and commercial strategies to drive growth, supplier value, and operational efficiency
- Lead high-value contract negotiations and oversee cost estimations in line with company policy
- Provide strategic guidance via reporting, quality assurance, and Board-level insights for initiatives
- Support the Director of Procurement in key strategic initiatives
Key requirements
- Strong background in leading complex capital projects through all lifecycle stages
- Deep understanding of financial impacts, operational requirements and capital project governance
- Expertise in procurement strategy, contract structures, and supplier relationship management
- Proven ability to adapt and respond to global market changes and disruptions
- Experience in claims preparation and resolution while maintaining ethical standards
- Proven ability to build and nurture long-term supplier relationships and drive performance
