Base Location: Oxford

Salary: £34,749 - £40,939 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

37 hour working week. Full PPE and tools required for the position. Access to a company vehicle.

We are looking for a Tree Cutting Quality & Safety Inspector (QSI) to join our team. This key role is the interface between SSEN and utility arboriculture contractors working on our behalf. The Quality and Safety Inspector (QSI) is responsible for overseeing the performance of tree cutting contractors working for SSEN, including the relevant administration associated with the projects. In this role you will be instrumental in the initial survey of the overhead network to assess for vegetation infestation and overseeing the safety and compliance of the cutting teams working on the contractor maintenance tree cutting programme.

We're looking for a well organised, highly skilled individual who has a keen eye for detail and is looking to make a difference. Ideally you will be safety driven, have a high level of self-organisation and be generally proactive in your approach.

You will:

  • Be responsible for project management including management of changes to planned works, approval of cut spans for payment and inspections on completed works.
  • Conduct on-site SHE Engagements.
  • Act as customer liaison including supporting contractor surveyors with gaining consents where landowners refuse tree cutting.
  • Be responsible for contractor coaching & data reporting.
  • Survey to assess vegetation affection in line with SSEN procedures.

You will:

  • Have utility arboriculture knowledge and experience, including UA 1, UA5.1/5.2 is desirable but will be provided for the right applicant.
  • Be safety and customer focussed with excellent communication skills.
  • Have the ability to identify inefficiencies and be able to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Be IT literate not limited to the Office 365 suite of applications.
  • Hold a full, clean, manual driving license.
