Project Management Graduate Programme 2026 - Transmission
Start Date: 2-year programme, commencingSeptember 2026
Base Locations: Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness
Salary:circa£34,000 per annum + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

What is the Role?
As a Project Management Graduate joining SSEN Transmission, you will follow a specialist pathway. Specialists will work with experts in their specialism, gaining exposure within a business area for the duration of their graduate programme withthe aim of providing experience that will lead to a substantive post.
SSEN Transmission are currently working on a number of high-profile transmission projects which are ensuring our transmission network is able to transmit clean renewable energy whilst being safe, efficient, and structurally sound, therefore providing sustainable and reliable energy to all.

About our Teams
Project Delivery:Seeking a Graduate Project Manager to help manage the successful delivery of transmission projects needed to meet the UK government's 2030 net zero targets. Working with the Project Manager, a typical day will involve collaborating with a wider team to plan, execute and monitor projects during the refinement and construction phases. Working closely with Contractors to successfully deliver our projects, you will have the opportunity to be based both in the office and on-site. This will require a flexible approach to working both in a team and undertaking some tasks working alone.You will also develop an understanding of our safety culture and values.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or Project Management, and can be based in Perth, Inverness or Aberdeen.
Eastern Green Link (EGL) Project:is being delivered as a Joint Venture between SSENT (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) and NGET (National Grid Electricity Transmission). This is part of a wider portfolio of Eastern projectsbeing executed on the Eastern Coast of the UK mainland. The EGL2 project consists of a 2GW HVDC link from Peterhead in the Northeast of Scotland to Drax at Wren Hall in North Yorkshire, England, with associated AC onshore works.
There are two Lots of work within scope that are to be delivered by the Joint Venture:
- Lot 1 -Converter Scope of Work
- Lot 2 - Cable Scope of Work
Additionally, there are enabling works to be completed by both TOs in the North and South. The project team are responsible for ensuring safe and sustainable delivery of scope elements on time and within budget.
The successful candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Law or Commercial, and based in Glasgow or Aberdeen.
What do I need to join?
You'll have a minimum of a 2:2 bachelor's degree in one of the disciplines listed above. For this role, you will need to hold a full UK Driver's Licence, or be in the process of learning to drive, as there will be a requirement to travel to a number of our project sites.
We'd love you to have some practical work experience that reflects your passion for the energy sector, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You'll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges and should have a genuine interest in SSEN Transmission and the prospect of a long-term future with us.
We want you to feel confident about what happens next in our recruitment process, which has three stages: Online Testing, Video Interview, and an In-Person Assessment Centre.

  • If you're successful, we'll be in touch by Monday 10 November 2025 with an invitation to complete an online video interview.
  • Our Hiring Managers will carefully review all video interviews, and if you make it through, we'll contact you by Wednesday 10 December 2025 with an invite to attend our Assessment Day expected to take place January/February 2026. We'll need you to confirm your attendance by Sunday 4 January 2026.
