Salary:Β£42,600 β Β£64,000 depending on experience + car / cash allowance + performance-related bonus + range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role
SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a Site Construction Manager experienced in the principles of construction and the commissioning of transmission substations, electrical bias preferred but not essential. The Site Construction Manager will be crucial in managing the ongoing development and construction of a new Kintore 132kV GIS Substation, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
There are training opportunities available for suitable candidates transferring from other industries. The role would be suitable for experienced site supervisors looking for their next career advancement.
You will
β Act as a safety leader on site and champion for a positive safety culture.
β Represent the SSEN Transmission business on-site, being the key point of contact for the project, interacting proactively with the appointed contractor(s), Operations team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the works are delivered to the project programme, with appropriate resource levels and in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
β Develop effective positive relationships with contractors, suppliers and the community, acting as a leader on site and champion for an effective and collaborative safety culture.
β Ensure the project is executed in accordance with relevant requirements, particularly statutory and legal obligations, health & safety, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, quality & technical compliance (such as ITPs).
β Monitor and record the progress of key deliverables including earthworks, civils construction, electrical installation and commissioning activities, measuring completed works against set KPIs to support assessment of the contractor(s) payment applications and the management of NEC Contracts. You will ensure site activities comply with planning consents and SHE legislation and ensure that the Contractor is providing sufficiently detailed weekly reporting as part of the project deliverables.
You have
β Suitable experience of site management of complex works in construction/ utilities/ electrical installation projects, combined with effective leadership skills in challenging environments and the ability to deal with conflicting demands.
β Strong engineering and construction knowledge & experience along with site safety management and the application of CDM Regulations.
β A working knowledge NEC contracts or equivalent, monitoring progress against project plans as well as the application of quality management inspection and test plans (including defect rectification).
β Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the project internally and externally where required.
β The ability to maintain project documentation including weekly progress reports and daily site diaries, along with familiarity with common software (Microsoft Office etc.).
The role requires a full current driving licence due to the requirement to travel to and be on site.
