The role
As Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Assurance Specialist at SSE Networks β Distribution, you will ensure the SHE management system and assurance arrangements are robust, fit for purpose, and adhere to compliance standards. Your expertise will contribute to risk-based governance processes to ensure we meet statutory requirements and Group standards. In this role, you will implement business compliance programs, and support Group SHE Assurance efforts. Your goal is to ensure safe outcomes for our workforce, customers, and environment.
You will
- Provide SHE Assurance support and guidance to enable the SSE Networks β Distribution business to effectively manage risks.
- Govern the development and maintenance of documentation in the SHE Management System, ensuring committed support for the SHE team\\\βs success.
- Assess and report on SHE compliance with standards using closed-loop SHE assurance processes, conduct project safety reviews/planning and complete a yearly assurance programme.
- Set and apply standards for the type and quality of SHE Assurance activities.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, driving commitment and modelling behaviours consistent with the company\\\βs purpose, values, and objectives.
You have
- Significant experience operating in a similar role in a high-risk industry, with Degree level SHE qualifications desirable.
- Lead Auditor qualification and/or extensive experience, incorporating best practices in SHE audit processes.
- Experience of audit, assurance, risk assessment and management in a high-risk industry.
- Extensive working knowledge and understanding of UK legislation regarding SHE.
- Previous experience in developing and authoring SHE arrangements, processes, and documents.
Regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence.
