Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth or Portsmouth.

The Role: As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will design, maintain, and optimise operational technology systems, ensuring seamless integration with IT infrastructure while safeguarding critical processes. You'll be at the forefront of keeping systems secure, reliable, and efficient.
- Support the OT Compute Platforms Manager in the effective running of the critical infrastructure that supports Operational Technology for SSEN Distribution.
- Design and deliver key change projects that enable the scaling and improve the resilience of the overall OT Infrastructure estate.
- Responsible for the support of a diverse range of infrastructure services – from centralised server rooms to solutions deployed at operational sub‑stations and third‑party managed hosted solutions.
- Manage a diverse range of third parties and stakeholders in order to achieve the stated operational objectives of SSEN Distribution.
- Contribute to the production and implementation of an overall Infrastructure Modernisation roadmap for SSEN Distribution in collaboration with Group Technology Services colleagues.
You have:
- Hands‑on experience of managing the support, development and delivery of highly resilient, critical on‑premise infrastructure.
- OT experience would be preferred, but not necessary, assuming experience in operating other critical, highly resilient infrastructure.
- Ability to manage multiple competing demands for infrastructure capacity and resources from several Change Programmes.
- Experience of transitioning workloads from on‑premise infrastructure to a variety of modern infrastructure technologies – experience with VMware would be highly beneficial.
- Understanding of industry standard service management, such as ITIL or equivalent.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and third parties, including projects and suppliers, to achieve the outcomes required of this infrastructure estate.
