The role
The Technical Services Team are responsible for design and delivery of SCADA, Protection and Control Systems that enable SSE Network Management Centres (NMC) to manage its extensive Electricity Distribution Network. To ensure the continued success of the department, we are looking to recruit a Real Time Systems Design and Delivery Engineer.
Real Time Systems Design and Delivery (RTSD) Engineer, reporting to the lead RTSD Engineer, will play a pivotal role in interpreting business and customer requirements to turn them into technical solutions and manage deliverables.
You will
- Undertake full solution design of SCADA field systems, telecommunication and other auxiliary systems for primary and secondary electrical distribution assets.
- Act as designated contact for internal and external stakeholders for design reviews and subject matter consultations to ensure standards, business compliance and technical requirements are adhered.
- Support procurement, delivery, commissioning and maintenance activities.
- Provide training and mentorship for team members and contracting partners on technology, project execution, work processes and procedures.
- Support the process of transformation from concept throughout to the business-as-usual adoption of technologies and systems as part of the journey towards reaching overall business goals.
- Manage multiple concurrent tasks of various dimensions; creativity, problem solving, work prioritising and time management are essential aspects of this role.
You have
- Experience in Substation Control Systems, Distribution Grid Automation, Tele-protection systems, RTUs, PLCs, IEDs, Operational Technology Networks and will demonstrate competency in most common Serial/TCP based electrical utility SCADA protocols and standards.
- A familiarity with various telecoms services and telemetry systems as this will be a definite advantage.
- Be safety focussed with excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.
- Have the ability to adapt with changing business requirements and priorities, be self-disciplined with excellent organisational skills, capable of working on your own initiative and to deadlines within a proactive and supportive environment.
This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work-related travel.
The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role.
A valid driving licence is essential.
