Ready to play a key role in delivering Smart Buildings projects that make a real impact for customers and communities? Join SSE's Smart Buildings team and help bring intelligent, energy efficient building solutions to life. This role blends hands‑on technical delivery of BMS systems with the opportunity to manage contractors delivering specialist packages such as Power Management Systems (PMS) and ICT solutions. You'll work across the full project lifecycle, from design and installation to commissioning and handover - ensuring our customers receive high quality systems that perform exactly as intended.

What you'll be doing:

  • Delivering Smart Buildings projects end-to-end, reviewing specifications, designing solutions, coordinating installation activities and supporting commissioning.
  • Managing specialist contractor packages on relevant projects - liaising between site requirements, programme timelines and subcontractor teams to ensure accurate and safe delivery.
  • Interpreting wiring diagrams, control strategies and technical documentation to ensure systems meet customer expectations and operate effectively.
  • Monitoring finances at a project level and supporting forecasting, budgeting and cost-to-complete updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Acting as the customer's main point of contact for your allocated projects, ensuring clear communication, issue resolution and a positive experience throughout delivery.

What we're looking for:

  • Technical experience in building controls, BEMS, electrical engineering, SCADA, PMS or similar project environments.
  • Strong coordination skills, with confidence working between site teams, subcontractors and specialist suppliers to keep activities aligned.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as wiring diagrams, specifications and control logic.
  • Commercial awareness - including experience managing budgets, tracking project performance and responding to variances.
  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, commissioning teams, contractors and customers.

About SSE Smart Buildings:

We are one of the largest BEMS suppliers in the UK - a top 3 Honeywell Trend Technology Partner, and the first Siemens Master Partner. We love being a market leader and topping out some outstanding projects to the very highest of standards - on time and within budget! Working alongside our colleagues in SSE we provide some of the most critical building control and energy generation services required by a zero‑carbon world, enabling our customers to achieve their sustainability targets.

Flexible benefits to fit your life:

  • Enjoy discounts on private healthcare and gym memberships.
  • Wellbeing benefits like a free online GP and 24/7 counseling service.
  • Interest‑free loans on tech and transport season tickets, or a new bike with our Cycle to Work scheme.
  • As well as generous family entitlements such as maternity and adoption pay, and paternity leave.

Work with an equal opportunity employer. SSE will make any reasonable adjustments you need to ensure that your application and experience with us is positive. We're dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive workplace where people from all backgrounds can thrive. We create equal opportunities for everyone to succeed and especially welcome applications from those who may not be well represented in our workforce or industry.
