The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement and Commercial Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial team to support our SSEN Transmission business. The role will be responsible for leading Benchmarking and Cost Intelligence activities within the Procurement and Commercial team.

SSEN Transmission is at the heart of the just transition to net zero in the UK. Our network will be pivotal in connecting and transporting the power needed to decarbonise the UK\'s electricity network and support the UK\'s net-zero and energy security ambitions. Our business is rapidly growing, with a projected investment of over £20bn in the next 10 years. This role will support delivering this ambitious investment program.

To operate effectively within a regulated environment, the role involves monitoring, controlling, analyzing, and reporting on all Procurement and Commercial matters across the portfolio.

You will

  1. Design and lead a comprehensive benchmarking and cost intelligence framework aligned with industry standards, transforming data into strategic insights for decision-making.
  2. Collaborate with external benchmarking partners and supply chain partners to enhance data robustness.
  3. Lead procurement processes related to benchmarking initiatives and act as a key liaison within the business and procurement function.
  4. Compile, analyze, and present benchmarking data, translating findings into actionable insights to inform strategy, supplier performance, and regulatory engagement.
  5. Develop and manage reporting platforms using tools like Power BI, Excel, and other corporate systems.

You will have

  1. Proven ability to manage hybrid benchmarking models using internal and external data sources, with strong analytical skills.
  2. Experience and advanced competency in Procurement and Commercial activities in a leadership role.
  3. A mindset of continuous improvement, capable of delivering quick wins and long-term capability development.
  4. Excellent communication skills, able to present insights and drive decision-making.
  5. Understanding of the industry, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
