We are looking for a Land Consents Manager to join our Land Consents team in LCD. Reporting to the Lead Land Consents Manager as well as internal and external clients, you will be responsible for securing, maintaining and managing strategic land and property rights for linear electrical apparatus and ground mounted plant for a wide range of projects. In undertaking this key role and accelerating delivery of large-scale capex and connections projects you will play an important part in helping us achieve Net Zero.

You will:

  • Devise land consents strategies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and sustainably, managing asset risk in line with our network security obligations and requirements.
  • Manage consents work carried out by SSEN Distribution’s Framework Partners and their identified consents resources through the lifecycle of a project, from initial route optioneering to successful completion of all consents ahead of delivery, to agreement of compensation claims post-works.
  • Manage the preparation, negotiation and successful acquisition of a range of consents including wayleaves, servitudes, land purchases, access permissions and leases across a portfolio of LCD projects.
  • Work closely with the LCD project teams to identify project need and ensure projects are delivered lawfully.

You have:

  • Applicable surveying, land management or law degree or equivalent experience and be a member of a relevant professional body and/or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge of relevant consents, and experience in securing both voluntary and statutory consents for large-scale utilities projects.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Experience of working with and securing agreements from key stakeholders, such as landowners, tenants, local authorities and other third parties.
  • Knowledge of associated environmental legislation.

Travel & Car: This role involves travel across various locations to support business needs. To enable you to fulfil these responsibilities, as a role requirement, the company will provide access to a vehicle for work‑related travel. The requirement will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, and if the company car policy criteria are met, there will be an opportunity to join the company car scheme. Provision of a company car or cash allowance does not form part of the contractual terms and conditions of employment for this role. A valid driving licence is essential.
