The role

We are looking for a Senior HVAC Export Cable Systems Engineer to act as Owner's Engineer on major subsea cable packages. You will lead the technical oversight of high voltage export cable systems (132kV+) from tender stage through FEED, construction and commissioning, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, efficient and fit for long-term operation. This is a senior technical role with broad interface responsibilities across onshore and offshore packages, offering the opportunity to influence key engineering decisions on large-scale renewable energy projects.

You will:

  • Act as Owner's Engineer and technical lead for the export cable system package, overseeing design, tender evaluation, construction and commissioning through to as-built documentation and prequalification and type tests before factory acceptance tests.
  • Review and challenge subsea cable system design, including thermal, thermomechanical, stability, earthing, fibre optic and monitoring systems.
  • Interface with onshore cable systems, installation and earthing design, power systems requirements and reactive compensation to ensure technical alignment across packages.
  • Provide technical assurance through document reviews, compliance checks, factory and site acceptance tests, and by witnessing key qualification and commissioning activities.
  • Support project leadership with risk management, cost-benefit analysis, change management and technical input to commercial and strategic decisions.

You have:

  • An Electrical Engineering (Hons) degree, with Chartered status achieved or working towards it.
  • Significant experience in high voltage cable engineering, including subsea systems above 132kV, with Onshore HV Cable System and Subsea Cable Installation experience beneficial.
  • Strong technical knowledge across cable design including near shore approach, installation, testing and commissioning, with the ability to independently author and review technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to lead technical discussions, influence stakeholders and provide constructive challenge.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset, with experience mentoring others or contributing to industry groups considered beneficial.
