The role:
As Finance Director for Berwick Bank, you are a key member of the senior leadership team, shaping the financial strategy for one of the UK's most significant offshore wind developments. You have end-to-end responsibility for financial leadership across development, financing, investment decision-making and construction, ensuring the project remains robust, well governed and investable at every stage. You work closely with senior project leaders, executives and shareholders, acting as a trusted adviser and creating the clarity and confidence needed to make complex decisions well.
- Provide clear and inclusive financial leadership as a core member of the Berwick Bank Project Leadership Team, supporting strategy, governance and safe decision-making across the project lifecycle.
- Lead the financing strategy for the Berwick Bank portfolio, including raising non-recourse project finance, managing advisers, and guiding the business through due diligence, financial close and key investment milestones.
- Own the project(s) business case, ensuring it continues to meet shareholder investment criteria, balances risk and return, and supports well-informed decisions on scope, phasing and procurement.
- Set and maintain strong financial governance, overseeing cash management, treasury activities, financial controls, reporting and compliance across complex project entities.
- Build confidence with stakeholders by providing clear, thoughtful financial insight to project teams, SSE Renewables executives, lenders and the SSE plc Board.
You have:
- Significant experience in project finance and financial leadership within large-scale infrastructure or offshore wind projects, ideally through development and construction phases.
- A relevant degree and recognised accountancy qualification, with extensive post-qualification experience in complex capital projects.
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly and bring multidisciplinary teams with you.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience shaping business cases, financial models and investment decisions under uncertainty.
- The credibility and confidence to influence senior stakeholders, manage multiple workstreams and help optimise value while managing risk.
This role involves regular UK travel, particularly to Glasgow and London, with time commitments increasing around key project milestones.
