The role

The Distribution Control Centre (DCC) in Perth is responsible for managing and controlling SSEN’s high voltage distribution network, which stretches from the central belt of Scotland to Shetland and covers almost 50,000 kilometres of network carrying electricity to homes.

We are seeking a Distribution Control Engineer to join our dynamic team based in Perth.

In this role you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the electrical distribution network, working alongside professional engineers, applying your expertise to manage system performance, respond to network faults and oversee switching operations.

You will begin with a day‑shift schedule and a four‑day week, gaining hands‑on experience in control‑room operations.

With time and development you can progress to a shift‑based role, expanding responsibilities and career growth.

  • Always adhere to the company's policies and procedures.
  • Plan and execute high‑voltage switching for routine work and faults.
  • Oversee real‑time network management and security.
  • Complete accurate reporting.
  • You have
  • Experience working on a distribution network as a Senior Authorised Person.
  • Have a minimum of an HNC level qualification in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Have excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the Distribution Codes and Procedures.

Candidates for this role will be required to obtain vetting to SC level through UK Government.
