Do you have some experience as an Electrical Fitter, or looking for a career change and would like to be part of a forward thinking company that powers 3.9 million homes and businesses in communities across central southern England and the North of Scotland? We are looking for interested candidates with a Mechanical or Electrical bias to join us and work as part of a team maintaining, inspecting, and repairing the electricity network that supply our customers.
You Will Be Responsible for:
- Maintaining electrical equipment on the electricity network up to 33kV, ensuring maintenance is completed within specific time frames and the network is restored to normal as soon as possible.
- Emergency response to fault scenarios.
- Part of the team involved in the delivery of construction projects in line with agreed KPIs, including all plant and equipment (both electrical and mechanical) ensuring it is operating within designated limits.
- Assisting the maintenance team with switching out the network and restoration switching within authorisation level, including planning on how, when and where all works will take place.
- Attending training courses within this role, especially if joining outside from SSE; these courses may be held out of area, but training and accommodation will be provided.
- Being an ambassador for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks when interacting with external and internal customers, including National Grid and small scale power stations, to deliver world class customer service and protect the SSE brand.
You Have:
- Experience as an Electrical Fitter / knowledge of the UK Electrical Distribution Network would be advantageous.
- A high regard for safety with strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills are essential to this role as we deal with customer related issues face-to-face on a daily basis.
- A full UK driving licence and flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must.
Training will be provided throughout; however, if you hold certain authorisations you may be eligible for a different pay banding:
- SS04 up to £40,939 if you are a qualified Electrical Fitter
- SS05 up to £45,905 – requires 11kv SAP PTW
- SS06 up to £51,484 – requires 33kv SAP PTW
