Base Location:For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations β Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.
Salary:Β£50,100 β Β£75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
With the continued growth of the Marine function within SSEN-Transmission Offshore Delivery, we have an exciting opportunity for Marine Construction Manager to join the team. This is a key position, overseeing the offshore activities across the portfolio of projects in all aspects of marine construction, providing feedback on constructability during development and design, and overseeing from a project management level during the delivery phase.
You will
- Support as a key member of the core team within the Marine function, building enduring Marine construction capability, setting clear expectations and direction, and communicating these effectively to the project teams, vendors and contractors.
- Lead a high performing Marine construction team throughout your assigned project; ensuring the project as the right skills and competencies to meet the safe and efficient delivery requirements, timescales and budgets whilst successfully overcoming challenges.
- Take ownership of Health & Safety throughout the marine construction, ensuring risk identification and management remain a high priority, and all operations are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively, exceeding expectations and aligned with SSE Safety Culture and core leadership values.
- Actively participate in project HAZIDs, HIRAs or other reviews, ensuring the right level of marine construction input is provided, and where embedded into the project team, contribute to the management decision-making process as it is related to marine construction activities, providing guidance to the project teams.
- Act as the focal point for all marine construction activity on their project, providing oversight of the marine construction progress throughout execution, supporting the project teams in relation to requirements, interfaces and safety of operations as well as weekly feedback to Senior Marine Construction Manager.
You have
- Have a strong personal commitment to safety; delivering all marine construction activities to Industry standards and best practice, Health and Safety Legislation and Company policies and procedures.
- A strong marine construction and engineering background with extensive personal experience managing the construction delivery of design, development and execution phases on large / mega projects, including subsea cable installation and offshore operations.
- Demonstrable experience in building close, trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, reviewing Constructability during the different stages of the project lifecycle, and have the ability to understand and oversee technical queries and impacts on the project.
- In depth knowledge of different types of marine construction assets and their mission specific equipment.
- In-depth experience of managing commercial, governance and assurance aspects of marine construction projects, reporting weekly on progress, risks, mitigations, costs and programme.
