Base Location: Havant, Reading and Perth

Salary: £69,105 – £81,406 and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role

Energy Markets (EM) is the commercial heart of the SSE Group, securing value for SSE\’s asset portfolios in wholesale energy markets as we move towards our vision of being a leading energy company in a net zero world. EM plays a critical role as the asset optimiser, route to market and risk management function for all SSE\’s Business Units (Wind, Hydro, Low Carbon Thermal, Distributed Energy and Customer portfolios). EM enables SSE to focus its expertise and capabilities in energy markets (including Trading, Risk Management, Energy Economics and Advanced Analytics) in one centre of excellence and, with these enhanced capabilities, support value creation and decision-making across the SSE Group.

You Will

• Team Leadership & Agile Delivery: Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team, collaborating with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to manage backlogs, support queues and actively participate in agile ceremonies.

• Operational Excellence: Manage incidents, problems, and changes within SLAs, implement automation for efficiency, and ensure secure, well-maintained IT services through patching and vulnerability management. Be part of an On-call support rota.

• Application development and Configuration management: Design, develop and configure applications and interfaces.

• Cloud hosting: Encourage cloud adoption, oversee application configuration, installation, and lifecycle management, while contributing to system design and architecture.

You Have

• Development & Integration: Skilled in .NET, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript, YAML, and experienced in creating system integrations via APIs and connectors.

• Operational Excellence: Familiar with ITIL processes, Agile/DevOps practices, cloud operations, and tools like Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.

• Cloud Engineering & infrastructure: Experience in Azure Cloud, terraform and cloud-based application lifecycle management.

• Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment: Proficient in application packaging, building and managing of DevOps pipelines and optimising Software Delivery Life-cycles.
