Base Location: 50% of your working week in Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness or Glasgow.

Salary: £42,600 – £64,000 + performance‑related bonus and a range of benefits.

The role involves joining the central Reporting and Analytics team in Transmission, working across a wide range of real business problems. You will apply data science, machine learning and AI to deliver practical, scalable insight and help shape how advanced analytics is used across the organisation, with a strong focus on asset, operational and forecasting use cases.

You will:

  • Work on a variety of advanced analytics use cases, developing and deploying machine‑learning and AI solutions that deliver real operational and strategic value.
  • Collaborate with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to turn questions into well‑defined problems, and deliver solutions that can be reused and scaled.
  • Take models from prototype through to production, working with shared data platforms and contributing to robust, maintainable pipelines.
  • Communicate insights clearly and confidently to a range of audiences, helping people understand and trust data‑driven decisions.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture, sharing knowledge, supporting others and continuously improving how we deliver analytics.

You have:

  • Ability to independently design and apply statistical, machine‑learning and (where appropriate) AI approaches to solve real business problems, selecting appropriate methods, validating results and clearly communicating outcomes and impact.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient and well‑structured code in Python and SQL, working with large and complex datasets and using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and scikit‑learn (or similar tools).
  • Experience working within shared, platform‑based data environments such as Azure, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric, using collaborative workflows, version control and structured development practices.
  • Experience independently taking analytical models or data products from concept through to production, including deployment, monitoring, iteration and ensuring solutions are robust, reusable and scalable.
  • A proactive, self‑starting approach, with experience working in agile teams and the ability to work with loosely defined problems, engage stakeholders directly and drive solutions through to delivery.
