Base Location: New Forest, Poole, Salisbury, Yeovil, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Southampton, Petersfield, Portsmouth or Aldershot.

Salary: £43,704 - £51,484 depending on skills and experience + car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

The role: We have a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Automation Technician to join our Customer Delivery team within our South East Power Distribution business. This role is vital to the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of remotely controlled switchgear and associated equipment, including all supporting communication systems on the electrical distribution network up to 11kV.

Responsibilities:

  • The installation, commissioning and maintenance of automation schemes across the network.
  • Monitoring and supervising contractors throughout the region.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on automation equipment from multiple manufacturers.
  • Maintaining and installing automation-related electrical equipment on the 11kV network, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of all tasks.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in full compliance with SSE’s safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Strong self-management skills with the ability to organise and prioritise your workload effectively.
  • A knowledge of the automation currently installed and be keen to learn and develop within your role.
  • Operational authorisations CAT 1,2,4,5, and 7.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A willingness to undertake additional training for example CAT 4E, CAT 7, and automation installations if and where required.
