The role:
As an IT Contract Manager within our Procurement and Commercial team, you will play a valued role in supporting the business to procure services and materials in a timely, responsible, and cost-effective way. Working across the wider SSE Group, you'll partner with IT programme and project leaders while building collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure contracts deliver real value and meet business needs. This is a great opportunity to bring your commercial insight and relationship-building strengths to a role where you'll help guide programmes to successful outcomes, ensure compliance with internal frameworks, and support a culture of transparency, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
You will:
- Act as a trusted commercial adviser to IT programme and project leaders, nurturing strong relationships with suppliers to support successful delivery across a portfolio of programmes and projects.
- Manage the commercial administration of contracts, ensuring alignment with internal policies such as the Procurement Manual, Commercial Manual and LCP Governance Framework.
- Support sourcing activities alongside IT Category Managers and Strategic Procurement Officers, including reviewing strategies, analysing submissions, and contributing to tender evaluations.
- Compile, negotiate and award contractual documentation such as Call Off Contracts, Statements of Work, Work Orders and Change Requests while ensuring strong commercial governance.
- Collaborate with the IT Category Management team to manage post-contract activities including renewals, retenders and terminations while championing value for money and sustainable outcomes.
You have:
- A degree or equivalent professional experience, ideally with (or working towards) a recognised commercial or procurement qualification such as IACCM.
- Experience managing significant third-party spend.
- Experience of working with Service Management to identify value add and cost savings.
- Confidence handling and resolving commercial or contractual disputes in a constructive and balanced way.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience operating as a senior commercial or contract negotiator.
- Familiarity with procurement systems such as Oracle or Emptoris, and the flexibility to travel to vendor sites when required.
