Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office at one of the following locations: Glasgow.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the Eastern Green Link projects. The position will support our HVDC programme of works for converter and civils works.
Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide the necessary pre and post contract procurement and commercial support to some of the largest projects within SSEN Transmission. This is an excellent opportunity to grow within the SSE portfolio and contribute to the continued growth of this area of the business.
This role would suit someone from a Quantity Surveying background with either Client or Contractor based experience; no specific experience working in the Energy sector is required but would be advantageous.
You will:
- Support P&C Manager / Senior Contract Manager in negotiating contract T&Cs for projects of significant value and subsequent commercial management of the delivery phase.
- Negotiate contract prices and ensure all contract prices can be substantiated and provide value for money to consumers.
- Have demonstrable stakeholder engagement and management skills, as well as the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes together with problem solving.
- Be involved in Cost and Forecast Management via regular cost reporting and ensuring change management procedures are adhered to, Payment and Expenditure Management and Cost Estimating.
- Provide robust post contract commercial management which will support the project goals and objectives including negotiating/agreeing variations to scope and ensuring that the core principles of the SSENT Commercial Manual are being implemented.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promote safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.
You have:
- A Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and have attained or be working towards professional membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or CICES.
- Experience of estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
- Experience of drafting and interpreting commercial contracts together with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke contract arrangements. Experience of working with NEC and FIDIC forms of contract would be advantageous.
