Overview

Electrical Fitter (11kV - 33kV) – Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks

Base Location: Oxford, Swindon, Andover or Melksham

Salary: £34,749 - £40,939 (up to £51,484 depending on existing authorisations, see below)

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible working options available

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining electrical equipment on the electricity network up to 33kV, ensuring maintenance is completed within specific time frames and the network is restored to normal as soon as possible. This will also include emergency response to fault scenarios.
  • Part of the team that is involved in the delivery of construction projects in line with agreed KPI\'s, including all plant and equipment (both electrical and mechanical) ensuring it is operating within designated limits.
  • Assist the maintenance team with switching out the network and restoration switching within authorisation level, including planning on how, when and where all works will take place.
  • Required to attend training courses within this role, especially if joining outside from SSE; these courses may be held out of area, but training and accommodation will be provided.
  • An ambassador for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks when interacting with external and internal customers, including National Grid and small scale power stations, to deliver world class customer service and protect the SSE brand.

Safety is a key priority at SSE and you will adhere to safety policies and procedures in all activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as an Electrical Fitter / knowledge of the UK Electrical Distribution Network would be advantageous.
  • Authorisations to work on the electrical distribution network would be advantageous.
  • Electrical/mechanical experience if your previous working history is outside of a DNO.
  • A high regard for safety with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential as we deal with customer related issues face-to-face daily, and good service helps achieve broader measures and targets.
  • A full UK driving licence and flexible approach to working hours and work location is a must.

Pay Banding Note: Training will be provided throughout; however, if you hold certain authorisations you may be eligible for a different pay banding: Up to £45,905 – requires 11kV SAP PTW; Up to £51,484 – requires 33kV SAP PTW.
