We're looking for a thoughtful and commercially aware Market Risk Analyst to join a collaborative team at the centre of SSE's evolving energy portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strategic decision‑making across a diverse mix of renewable and thermal generation assets, customer operations, and emerging energy technologies. Working closely with teams across the business, you will help provide meaningful insight into market positions, risk exposure, and performance, supporting resilience and long‑term value in a fast‑moving energy landscape. You will:
- Monitor market positions, movements, and risk metrics, providing insightful commentary and analysis to stakeholders.
- Partner with Business Units to share market developments and help ensure alignment of strategic objectives across the organisation.
- Coordinate and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership and Board members.
- Collaborate with Data Science and Quantitative Risk teams to improve and streamline processes, tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across the wider team.
You have:
- A strong understanding of wholesale energy markets and the key value drivers within an energy trading environment.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience interpreting data and translating findings into meaningful insights.
- Experience with, or enthusiasm to learn, programming languages such as Python and/or data visualisation tools including Tableau or PowerBI.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets and reporting tools.
- The ability to build positive working relationships and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
